☁️ Bookmarks: Reclaim your routine
more half ideas / self-soothing strategies / tswift's eras workout
Hi friend,
I’ve already mentioned how I’m going through a time, but I wanted to share with you the realization I had late this week.
Whenever life is chaotic, the first thing that falls by the wayside is my routine.
When I’m in my routine, I’m waking up, getting out of bed, walking my dog + getting some immediate fresh air, having a healthy breakfast, making coffee at home, and getting to work at my desk until I log off for a workout, have dinner with my husband, lounge on the couch with my dog + a good book, and go to bed somewhat early.
When I’m out of my routine, I’m staying in bed for 30+ mins after waking up just scrolling social media, begrudgingly going on a dog walk, eating a breakfast that won’t nourish me, getting distracted when I should be working, which then results in me working late and having zero time off in the evening.
And even though I’m going through some difficult times, the lack of a routine only exacerbates that stress.
Maybe you can relate? Maybe you, too, abandon your own needs immediately when times get tough.
If this sounds like you, I’m encouraging you – and us – to reclaim our own self-care. Because if I can’t make the time to do things that make me feel better and more normal, I won’t be able to show up for anything else.
Whatever your routine and self-care look like, I encourage you to bring it back this week. You deserve it.
with warmth + love,
N
