Hi friend,
I turn 30 on Saturday!!! How wild.
In some ways, I still feel like the youngest person in the room (usually the marketing intern), trying desperately to be taken seriously. And in other ways, I’m a whole business owner and real grown adult (allegedly)!!
I know this is usually where I should do the ‘30 lessons I’ve learned in 30 years’ or ‘30 of my top things,’ but you all know I don’t have the attention span to stick with that.
So, here’s what I’ll say instead: I’m tired of people making me feel like a new decade is supposed to be transformative.
I’ve gone into this upcoming birthday with intimidation over how I’m supposed to feel and how life is supposed to completely transform because of a number change.
When in actuality, I don’t feel like this birthday is all that different than any other.
Sure, I’ll take any excuse to celebrate more (an extra benefit of having a birthday on a long weekend), but I’m not holding myself to some wildly high expectations to make major changes this year.
I’m turning 30, and the only thing I’ve learned is that I really don’t know anything.
I have less clarity than ever on where my life is going, but for once, I’m totally fine with relinquishing control to whatever the universe throws at me. I know now that I really know nothing.
If you’re feeling the unrealistic expectations of a new age, a new year, or even a new day, I encourage you to listen to your own mind. You might find that those expectations aren’t yours at all, and they’re not your problem to live up to.
Thanks for spending another year around the sun with me, friend. Appreciate you more than you know 🤍
with warmth + love,
N

I’m already in the celebratory mood, and I want you to be, too! So, here’s my challenge to you this week: get yourself a little treat.
Doesn’t have to be something big, sometimes the simpler the better. A slice of birthday cake, a delicious latte, a walk outside in warm weather… let this be your permission to do something celebratory for yourself 🤍
✌️ until next week
