☁️ A word to the rude bully in my life
internet addicted chatbots / generation stay-at-home / how to stop self-sabotage
Hi friend,
Imposter syndrome is a rude bully.
I could say meaner things, but (*cue harry styles IYKYK*) this is a family show.
Imposter syndrome doesn’t care how far you’ve gotten in your life or how much you’ve accomplished or how many people believe you can do something.
It’s going to sneak in and be that mean little voice whispering in your ear when you’re so excited about something saying… “but what if you can’t? but what if you’re fooling everyone?”
I’m so tired of that silly little voice. And maybe you are too.
This week, I’m just thinking a lot about how we can live in defiance of that bully. How we can acknowledge those fears while still saying, “I don’t care. I’m moving forward.”
Or, maybe more realistically, we can keep going knowing that we’re going to have moments where that voice gets too loud, too overwhelming.
Because we’re not imposters. We’re not fooling people. We’re just trying our best to exist in a complicated world while maybe trying to achieve things we want.
with warmth + love,
N

That ugly bully imposter syndrome we talked about earlier? It’s unfortunately a form of self-sabotage. Thankfully, The Washington Post has some tips for us on how to stop sabotaging yourself and take steps to overcome these negative habits + thoughts.
Here’s a little TL;DR:
Treat your struggle with compassion
Notice unhelpful thought patterns
Label your negative thoughts
Challenge self-sabotaging behaviors
Take responsibility
Start small and build on it
Be patient + give yourself grace
