☁️ Bookmarks: Choose your own fun
the cult of busyness / tiktok's newest wellness trend / solar eclipse anxiety
Hi friend,
I have one very, very specific piece of advice for you this weekend: you get to define your own fun (and you can change your mind at any time).
I say this because I just spent the last 2-3 weeks reading two different books that I was really excited about initially and ended up abandoning halfway through. Both of them did not live up to the hype.
I kept pushing my way through because I expected them to be fun! I love reading, and I was excited to get these highly anticipated books from the library!
But it turned out not to be fun at all. To make matters worse, they put me in such a reading rut that made me really not enjoy reading (see previous point that I typically LOVE reading).
There are too many books in the world (and even on my TBR list) to read books I’m not enjoying. There are too many TV shows and movies and songs and fun activities in the world to do things we’re not enjoying.
You get to decide what’s fun and if that thing turns out to not be fun at all, you can change your focus whenever you want.
On that note, let me know what books you’ve been loving lately!! Only fun books!!!
with warmth + love,
N
