Hi friend,
Sometimes we’re cruising on easy. Things are smooth sailing. We’re just drifting along – feeling free, calm, and maybe a little bored.
Other times, we’re trudging along on an uphill trek. There’s no knowing what will come tomorrow. Frankly, we’re on an hour-by-hour basis.
I don’t know about you, but for me, this week has been the latter.
The kind of week where you’re up late writing or doomscrolling. A week where you’re just focused on what’s in front of you because the giant, scary mountain of STUFF is happening in the background will get dealt with eventually.
A week where you’re following the next logical step, taking one more breath, continuing to push on.
If you’re on easy mode this week, rest. Enjoy it. Take it in.
And if you’re like me and life is happening to you this week, well, we’ll be back to easy mode soon. Hopefully. Probably. Right??? 🥴
Kidding, sorta. We’ve got this + I believe in us – in the easy and the hard.
with warmth + love,
N

This week calls for a guttural scream into the void. I recommend finding a quiet space of your own with no one around you. Maybe a closet in your house, a basement, or even muffled by a pillow.
If you can’t make a loud, jarring noise without terrifying everyone around you, then scream into your mind and pretend it’s out loud. And then, we scream. Ready?
Deep breath in.

on building social media detox!
Thank you all SO much for such kind words last week for 100 issues of Detox! I’m truly grateful for the support of y’all, and I’m excited to keep going in this journey with you.
This week, you also received Bookmarks, the Saturday edition with extra links + resources, and the Tuesday long-form issue. So many of you sent the sweetest notes about the content + I truly do hope you’re loving it.
If you enjoyed the Saturday Bookmarks and the Tuesday long-form issues… these are only available as paid subscriber benefits moving forward – for $5/mo.
I know you have a lot of places you can spend your money, so I tried to keep this affordable BUT rest assured that the typical weekly issue of SMD will always remain free. You can also ask your boss to cover this as an educational, workplace expense.
If you’d like to upgrade to a premium subscription, you can do that here 👇
As always, if you have any thoughts, please let me know in the comments or by replying to this! Appreciate you so much, friend 🤍
Hi Nicole! I love this idea of asking my boss to cover a paid subscription as an educational, workplace expense. Do you have a few sentences you could provide in an upcoming post that could help in outlining that ask and the benefits for someone working on social?
