Hi friend,
I was really inspired by Kaleigh Moore’s newsletter last week in which she didn’t send a newsletter. Not really. Just a kind, honest message about her being a real human who gets tired and needs rest.
This week, there’s no newsletter like you’re used to.
Our house has come down with a tough cold this week (who knew that a cold after 2+ yrs of not having one could be so rough??) and I’m just not feeling like I can give you the newsletter you deserve.
So, I’m listing some newsletters below that I truly believe are more worth your time this week.
A bunch of these newsletters are where I source my content from every week. So, if you subscribe to them, you might see some familiar links in each issue.
And then, I’m calling it a day. I’ll be sitting on my couch with tea, tissues, and TikTok.
Take care of yourself, friend. Listen to your body when it tells you to pause.
We’ll all be waiting here for you when you’re ready.
with warmth + love,
N

A special edition of newsletters you should be reading
Brianne Fleming’s Marketing with a Pop Culture Twist
Just like everything Brianne Fleming does, this newsletter is fun, relatable, and informative. It’s a dose of insightful marketing advice through the lens of boy bands and 90s nostalgia.
Rachel Karten’s Link in Bio
Rachel’s unique coverage of social media managers and the creator economy, having been a social media manager herself, is unmatched. She’s constantly at the helm of the most interesting stories and vital reporting.
Amanda Natividad’s The Menu
Honestly, I take as much insight from Amanda as I possibly can. So, having her expertise in my inbox regularly is good for my heart and my brain. Also she includes recipes at the end of each newsletter which are a great reminder that we should all take some time away from work to make a good meal.
Kara Cutruzzula’s Brass Ring Daily
This is one of the newsletters I’ve been subscribed to for the longest. I think I’ve been following Kara and her work since 2015 and she always amazes me with her creativity and brilliance. If you’re looking for inspiration and takeaways on writing, theater, reporting, NYC, or other random joys, Kara’s newsletter is the perfect brief bite for you.
Alexa Heinrich’s Accessible Social
It’s no secret that I love Alexa Heinrich. Her expertise on accessibility in social media is well-known and applauded. But her newsletter goes one step further in reporting on accessibility in social media through a timely lens. Special shoutout: Alexa has rounded up this list of abortion resources in each state to donate to, if you’re looking to give.
Jesse J. Anderson’s Extra Focus
Jesse’s newsletter is intended for folks with ADHD. I’ve never been tested for it so I don’t mean to speak on behalf of the condition. However, I’ve found this newsletter and its takeaways to be super relatable and helpful. If you’re having trouble focusing, this one’s a good one to check out.
Abra Belke’s The Work Edit and Thirtyish
Similar to Kara’s newsletter, I’ve also been subscribed to Abra’s Work Edit blog since 2015-ish. Abra works in government and her blog started as a fashion and lifestyle blog for women working in government in DC. But as she’s grown, I’ve loved watching her content continue to evolve. If you’re looking for fashion (occasional men’s fashion too!), lifestyle, and workplace reads, this is a good place.
Sara Lieberman’s Overthinking It
Sara’s newsletter was a new find for me over the past year or so from Kara’s newsletter. For anyone who’s a writer, this newsletter has some great gems. I also love following Sara’s travels and romanticizing her life in Paris.
Emily Abbate’s Weekly Hurdle
Emily’s Hurdle podcast has been a staple in my life since it launched (full disclosure: I consulted with Em on some work this past fall). But when I want something more visual and tactical, I like going through her Friday newsletter for the best fitness and wellness finds.
Girls’ Night In
Fun fact: Social Media Detox was actually inspired by Girls’ Night In. I’ve always admired their focus against hustle culture and commitment to slow, intentional living. Despite their name, I think this is a newsletter anyone who’s looking to embrace coziness could enjoy.
Embedded
This Substack from Kate Lindsay and Nick Catucci has some of the best reporting on the creator economy and influencers. I always struggle to not share everything they publish, it’s just that good.
